Tennis Lessons for Every Vancouver Player

Whether you're picking up a racket for the first time or refining a competitive serve, we match you with the right coach for where you are right now.

Private 1-on-1 Lessons

One coach, one player, full focus. Tailored to your level, your schedule, and the parts of your game you actually want to work on.

Private 1-on-1 Lessons

  • Faster Progress — All attention is on you. That means fewer corrections waiting their turn, and more reps landing per hour on the court.
  • Schedule Around You — Coaches teach mornings, evenings, and weekends. Indoor options available through Vancouver's rainy stretches.
  • Built-In Goal Setting — Your first lesson is a skill assessment so the coach can map out where you want your game to go.
  • $65–$95 Per Hour — Pricing varies by coach experience and venue. We confirm the rate before you book. Never a surprise.

Group Tennis Classes

Small structured group classes for adults at every level — drills, point play, and a built-in community of players who get matched to your group by skill.

  • Cost-Effective — Court time splits across the group. Most adult classes work out to $40–$55 per person per hour.
  • Built-In Community — Players in a class often become friends, league partners, and weekend rally regulars.
  • Level-Matched Groups — We sort classes by ability (beginner, intermediate, advanced) so the pace fits the room.
  • Six-Week Sessions — Adult classes typically run as six-week blocks so progression builds instead of restarting weekly.

Kids & Junior Programs

Age-appropriate progression for kids 5–17. The coaches care about real technique and the kids actually want to come back the next week.

  • Ages 5 Through 17 — Programs scale from first-racket basics (Quickstart) through tournament-track junior training.
  • Skill Over Hype — We focus on real technique (grip, footwork, balance), not just keeping kids busy on a court.
  • Holiday & Summer Camps — School-break camps available throughout the year so kids stay sharp between regular sessions.
  • Safe Sport Certified — Coaches working with juniors hold a current Safe Sport Tennis Certificate.

Adult Beginner Clinics

For anyone who has never held a racket — or hasn't in years. The clinic moves at the pace of the room, not the fastest learner.

Adult Beginner Clinics

For anyone who has never held a racket — or hasn't in years. The clinic moves at the pace of the room, not the fastest learner.

  • Built for First-Timers — Everything starts at the beginning: grip, posture, racket control, gentle rallying. No assumed knowledge.
  • Patient Pacing — The clinic adjusts to the group. We don't rush through fundamentals because someone wants to play matches sooner.
  • Every Age Welcome — Our regulars range from late twenties to mid-sixties. You won't be the oldest person on the court.
  • Skill Assessment First — Your first lesson is a structured skill assessment so you and the coach can map out a realistic plan.

Why Your Tennis Lessons Vancouver

Real Coaching, Honest Pricing.

Most Vancouver tennis instruction falls into two camps: cheap online platforms that put you with a random tutor, or elite academies that assume you're already serious about the sport. We're built for the middle. Tennis Canada TPA certified coaches, transparent pricing ranges, and a coach-match call before you book so you can talk goals, scheduling, and pricing with the right fit.

Tennis Canada Certified Coaches

Every coach in our network is Tennis Canada TPA certified, and those working with juniors hold a current Safe Sport Tennis Certificate. We don't hire general athletic instructors and badge them as tennis pros.

What Vancouver Players Say

Real Students, Real Progress

A handful of recent students from across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland on what their first few months of lessons looked like.

"Signed up to give myself a hobby after the kids left for university. The free first lesson was honest — I was awful — but my coach made it feel manageable. Six lessons in and I'm actually rallying."
Marisa C.
Kitsilano
"Wanted something more interesting than the gym. Booked a group class at Kits Beach and got matched with a coach who actually coaches — pricing is exactly what they quote, no surprises."
Daniel P.
Mount Pleasant
"Our nine-year-old went from refusing to try to begging us to drive her to practice. The coaches make it fun without dumbing it down. Best decision we've made for her this year."
Jordan M.
Kerrisdale
"Joined a group class to meet people after moving to Vancouver. Three months later I'm playing in a casual league with friends from the class. Wasn't expecting tennis to do that."
Aisha K.
Yaletown
"Played a bit in college, hadn't touched a racket in fifteen years. Booked a private lesson to work on my serve and walked out with three drills I still do. No hard sell on packages."
Stephen W.
Marpole
"Both kids did the junior program. The coaches genuinely care about technique and don't just run drills to fill the hour. Worth every dollar and the kids ask about it on weeknights."
Lisa T.
Edgemont
"Started with zero experience at 38. The adult beginner clinic met me exactly where I was. After six weeks I could actually keep a rally going — that felt like a real win."
Raj S.
Brentwood
"I'm 56 and was certain I'd be the oldest person on the court. Wrong — the adult clinic had a great mix of ages. The coach was patient and the class is something I look forward to every week."

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do tennis lessons cost in Vancouver?
Private lessons in Vancouver typically range from $65 to $95 per hour depending on coach experience and venue. Semi-private and group classes are more cost-effective at roughly $40–$55 per person per hour. We confirm the exact rate with your matched coach before you book, so there are no surprises.
Is it too late to learn tennis as an adult?
No — tennis is one of the most age-friendly sports to start. Our adult beginner clinic regulars range from their late twenties to their mid-sixties, and many had never picked up a racket before signing up. The clinic is built around fundamentals, not athletic ability, so prior experience and current fitness aren't barriers to getting started.
Should I start with private or group tennis lessons?
Both work, and the right choice depends on what you want from tennis. Private lessons get you to specific technique goals faster because every minute on the court is on you. Group classes are more affordable and build a community of players at your level. Many students do both: group classes for regular play, plus occasional private lessons when a specific stroke needs work.
How many tennis lessons do I need to actually play?
Most adult beginners can keep a comfortable rally going after six to ten lessons. To play casual matches with friends, eight to twelve lessons over a season is a realistic benchmark. Your coach will give you a more specific estimate after your first lesson based on where you're starting.
Do I need to bring my own racket to the first lesson?
Not necessarily. Most coaches keep loaner rackets for first-timers, so you can try a few before deciding what to buy. If you already own a racket, bring it. If not, mention it on the booking form and we'll make sure a loaner is ready when you arrive.
Where do tennis lessons take place in Vancouver?
Most outdoor lessons happen at familiar Vancouver Park Board courts — Stanley Park, Kits Beach, Jericho Beach, Queen Elizabeth Park, and UBC. For lessons in Burnaby, Richmond, North Van, and West Van, we use the nearest public courts to your neighbourhood. Indoor facilities are available for the winter months.
Are tennis lessons available year-round in Vancouver's rainy season?
Yes. Outdoor lessons run year-round when courts are dry, and we move to indoor facilities in Burnaby and Richmond when Vancouver's wet stretches make outdoor play unrealistic. Your coach will reschedule any rained-out lesson within the same week — you don't lose the session.
What is a Tennis Canada TPA certified coach?
Tennis Professionals Association (TPA) certification is the national standard for tennis coaching in Canada. Coaches complete progressive levels of training in technique, drill design, communication, and safety. Every coach in our network holds at least a current TPA certification — and those working with juniors also carry a Safe Sport Tennis Certificate.
